In a National Multicultural Festival first, one of Canberra’s unique landmarks will be the venue for a very special 2007 Festival finale concert. Whilst you picnic on the green grass of Rond Terrace, right on the edge of the Lake in front of historic Anzac Parade, you will be serenaded by a cast of seven singers from national, state and international opera companies, brought together for one special gala performance by Canberra’s own opera company, Stopera. With the Stopera Festival Orchestra led by Opera Australia conductor Andrew Greene, you’ll enjoy a wonderful program of favourite moments from La Bohème, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Carmen, The Barber of Seville, The Pearlfishers, Lakmé and more!
Produced by Stopera’s Artistic Director, Vivienne Winther, OPERA BY THE LAKE! will feature the talents of singers Rebecca Collins, Maria Danielle-Sette, Rachael Duncan, Stephen Bennett, Eddie Muliaumaseali’i and Gary Rowley, as well as exciting new opera star, tenor Roy Best, one of the winners of ABC TV’s Operatunity Oz.
Enjoy a relaxing evening by the Lake with wonderful views of Canberra’s Parliament House as the backdrop to a concert of operatic delights!
