Introducing an outstanding new opera talent - Tenor Lorenzo Rositano.


Celebrate Italy’s national day with a concert of Italian music for the voice. The program includes music by opera greats Rossini, Verdi and Puccini, traditional Neapolitan songs, and contemporary Italian favourites. Featuring artists from the ACT’s award-winning opera company Soprano Rebecca Collins, Pianist Vivienne Winther and introducing an outstanding new opera talent - Tenor Lorenzo Rositano

Soprano Rebecca Collins, is a winner of the National Aria Competition and has appeared in principal roles for Opera Queensland, Opera Australia and OzOpera, as well as performing at international festivals such as the Colorado Music Festival and the AIMS Festival in Graz. Rebecca is well known to ACT audiences for her lead roles in Stopera’s Australian premieres of Jane Eyre and Nigredo Hotel, and her concert performances at the National Multicultural Festival, the Canberra International Music Festival, and the outdoor spectacular, Opera By The Lake. > more

Tenor Lorenzo Rositano began singing and performing at the age of 12, and was a soloist for four years in the Schools Spectacular, broadcast on national ABC television. Lorenzo made headlines in 2006 when he was selected by the Australian Olympic Committee to perform the Australian national anthem at the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. He then toured Italy in February and March 2006, and performed in Japan in 2007. He is currently completing a Diploma of Opera at the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney. more>

Pianist Vivienne Winther is Artistic Director of Stopera and has played a leading role in the production and performance of many notable opera and concert events for the company since 1997, including the Opera By The Lake events in 2007 and 2008. She is also Artistic Director of Music For Everyone, the ACT’s community music organisation, and a part-time lecturer in piano at the ANU School of Music. In 2005, Vivienne was named The Canberra Times Artist of the Year, for her vision and achievement in gaining recognition for opera in the ACT. more>
