Ewan Foster
VIOLINIST

Ewan Foster is a Canberra based violinist and is currently completing an honours degree in performance at the Australian National University. He has recently returned from London where he was freelancing after completing the bachelor degree in 2008. His interests and influences vary from baroque music up to Jazz and beyond, including a career as an electronic musician along the way.

Ewan is also a violin teacher, and regularly travels interstate to perform in orchestras and chamber groups. With more solo work coming up in the near future, Ewan’s focus is diversifying to include a number of projects that will explore jazz improvisation, tango music, artistic direction, and further study of the violin virtuoso traditions from around the world.

Ewan has performed with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and played for Stopera in Opera by the Lake 2007 and 2008. He led the baroque style orchestra for the ANU School of Music’s 2010 production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, directed by renowned early music specialist Geoffrey Lancaster. In September 2010 he appears in the Bloom Music Festival in Seven Rooms, an unusual concert event presented by Pro Musica that is a musical progression through seven rooms of the Ainslie Arts Centre.
