Sara Carvalho
SOPRANO

Sara Carvalho has a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours, and has recently completed a Master of Music at the ANU School of Music under the tutelage of Celina Lindsley. Sara has performed such roles as Cosette in Les Misérables, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Maria in West Side Story, The Fire in L’enfant et les Sortilléges, Miss Silvertones in The Impresario and Adele in Die Fledermaus. Sara won a Canberra Critics Circle Award in 2002 and a Canberra Amateur Theatre (CAT) Award in the same year.

In 2003, the vice-chancellor of The Australian National University awarded Sara with a letter of commendation for the pursuit of academic excellence. In 2004, Sara won a Best Supporting Actress CAT award for her role as Adele in Die Fledermaus. Sara has performed regularly at Parliament House, Government House, embassies, and for the Governor-General’s St Andrew’s concert in 2002 and 2003. Sara performed with the Royal Military College Band, Duntroon, at Beat the Retreat in 2004. Sara joined the company to play Rochester’s niece, Adele in Stopera’s premiere production, Jane Eyre.
